Fiverr backlinks look like a cheap shortcut: a few thousand rupees for “high DA links”. We learned what they actually do when we audited our own site in October 2026 and found 148 spam domains pointing at it. This is what we found, why it mattered, and exactly how we cleaned it up.

Developer reviewing a backlink audit full of Fiverr backlinks

Quick answer: most cheap Fiverr backlinks come from link farms, casino sites and throwaway domains. They rarely help rankings, can look like a link scheme to Google, and you may end up disavowing them later.

What we found in our backlink audit

An outsourced SEO package had been building links to crestvox.com/ for a few months. On paper the numbers looked good. Semrush showed 206 referring domains and 799 backlinks. But our Authority Score was only 6, and Ubersuggest counted just 63 referring domains. That gap was the first sign that most of the links were not real.

When we went through all 206 domains one by one, 148 of them were clear spam:

  • Casino and betting sites, with names like “online casino for real money”.
  • Pharmacy and adult domains.
  • Link sellers with names like fiverr-seo-for-small-businesses.site and pbnlinks.shop.
  • Throwaway .shop and .site domains with no real content. One of them alone sent 474 links.
  • Fake news brands made to look like well-known publications.

Only a handful of links were genuinely useful, such as our dev.to articles, our GoodFirms profile and a client site that credits us.

Why Fiverr backlinks do not work

Google’s spam policies treat buying links to manipulate rankings as link spam. Google says it ignores most of these links, so at best you pay for nothing. At worst, a pattern of paid links can lead to a manual action. Either way, the Domain Authority number a seller promises is a third-party score, not something Google uses.

There is also a hidden cost: when your link profile is mostly spam, it is harder to see whether your real SEO work is helping.

How to spot Fiverr backlinks in your own report

  • Hundreds of new referring domains appear in a few weeks, then keep coming.
  • The linking sites have nothing to do with your industry: casino, crypto, pharmacy, random shops.
  • Domain names that look generated, such as short invented words on .shop or .site.
  • Your Authority Score stays flat while the backlink count climbs.
  • Different tools disagree wildly on how many referring domains you have.

If you see three or more of these, it is worth checking every domain, the same way we did. Fiverr backlinks tend to share these patterns because they come from the same networks.

How we cleaned up the Fiverr backlinks

  1. Stopped the package. New spam links were still arriving every week.
  2. Exported every referring domain from Semrush and checked each one by hand.
  3. Sorted them into three groups: clearly spam, low quality but real, and good.
  4. Built a disavow file with only the clear spam, 148 domains, and kept the borderline ones out.
  5. Uploaded it with Google’s disavow links tool.

Disavowing does not delete the links. It asks Google not to count them, and it can take weeks to be processed. It is a safety step, not a ranking boost.

What we do instead now

  • Complete profiles on real agency directories such as Clutch and GoodFirms.
  • A small “Designed by CrestVox Studio” credit on client sites, with the client’s permission.
  • Useful technical articles on developer platforms like dev.to.
  • Answering questions honestly in communities, without dropping links.
  • A few real guest articles a month on sites related to our work.

It is slower, but every link is one we would be happy for Google to look at. The basics behind it are in our technical SEO basics guide.

What a good backlink looks like

Good backlinkTypical Fiverr backlinks
From a real site related to your workFrom casino, pharmacy or unrelated sites
Placed inside useful contentPlaced on pages made only to hold links
Brings visitors who might buyBrings no visitors at all
Earned or agreed with the site ownerBought in bulk from a link network

What happens next

We expect our third-party scores to move slowly from here, because they grow with good new links, not with removing bad ones. We will keep checking the link report every month and add any new spam domains to the disavow file.

How to check your own backlinks

Open Search Console, go to Links, and export “Top linking sites”. If you see casino, pharmacy or random .shop domains you have never heard of, you have the same problem. Our team can review it for you as part of our SEO services in India, or as a one-off free website audit.

If you are choosing an SEO partner, ask exactly where links will come from before you pay. That one question would have saved us months. See how we work as an SEO company in India.

Frequently asked questions

Are Fiverr backlinks safe?

Most cheap Fiverr backlinks are not. They tend to come from link farms and spam domains that Google ignores or treats as link spam.

Should I disavow spam backlinks?

If you have a clear pattern of paid or spam links, such as casino or link-farm domains, disavowing them is a sensible safety step. Do not disavow normal low-quality links you did not pay for.

Will removing spam links increase my Domain Authority?

Not directly. Third-party scores like Domain Authority and Authority Score grow from good new links, not from removing bad ones.
